How to Delete an Amazon Account: 11 Steps



Deleting your Amazon account can be useful in the event you no longer want to use Amazon services or make future purchases from Amazon. Complete the steps in this article to delete your Amazon account indefinitely.



Part 1 of 3: Logging Into Amazon



1. Go to Amazon’s website at http://www.amazon.com/.

2. Click on the “Help” link at the top of your Amazon session.

3. Click on the “Contact Us” button located on the right-hand side of the landing page.

4. Sign in with your email address and password for the Amazon account you want deleted.



Part 2 of 3: Closing Your Account



1. Click on the tab labeled “Something else” on Amazon’s “Contact Us” page.

2. Scroll down to the section labeled “Tell us more about your issue.

3. Select “Account settings” from the dropdown menu next to “Select an issue.

4. Select “Close my account” from the dropdown menu next to “Select issue details.



Part 3 of 3: Contacting Amazon



1. Click on the contact method of your choice under the section labeled “How would you like to contact us? You can choose to contact Amazon via email, telephone, or live chat.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to have Amazon contact you directly. The instructions will vary depending on the contact method you have chosen. For example, if you want to speak to Amazon by telephone, Amazon will require you to enter a contact phone number, and will call you immediately or at the time you specify.

3. Wait to receive confirmation from Amazon that your account has been closed.The Amazon representative you speak to will provide you with the timeframe in which your account will be officially closed.



Tips

  • At this time, Amazon will only allow you to close or delete your account by contacting them directly. You will not be able to delete your account through Account Settings.
  • Once your Amazon account is deleted, it can no longer be accessed by you or by any other parties affiliated with Amazon, such as Amazon Sellers, Amazon Associates, Amazon Payments, and more. If you want to use Amazon at any time in the future after you have deleted your account, you must create a new account
