How to Solve Restarting Problem of Acer 6920G: 6 Steps

Acer 6920G computers can develop a problem with restarting in safe mode. Here are some pointers to fix or alleviate that problem.

Steps

1. First check the cooling pan of the processor and your fans for dust build up. If you find dust, clean it out. Take care to do this with the computer powered OFF and touch your vacuum hose to the case and the floor to "ground" it and prevent static electricity transfer.

2. Then try to power on your laptop.

3. Check your heat sink. Is it working properly or is it also clogged with dust? If you find dust, clean it out carefully, following the above protocols to avoid transfer of static electricity.

4. If above two things are alright, the next most likely culprit would be the cable and card connections inside the machine. Carefully RESEAT (unplug and plug back in) each power cable and data transfer ribbon cable. You can also reseat your RAM cards.

5. Try to power on the machine again.

6. If all of the above are NOT making a difference? You are likely looking at hardware failure of some sort... video cards, modem cards, etc may need replacing. Check with a licensed computer technician.

Tips

  • Please be careful when you open your laptop on your own. Follow anti-static discharge procedures, use an anti-static mat and grounded tools, when available to prevent static damage.

Warnings

  • If you are not so confident then don't open your laptop.
