How to Lip Sync Your Photo to an Audio Track: 7 Steps

Create animations of your face from a single front photo. Your only input is your portrait. The following steps will allow you to take the right picture to lip sync, which will be similar to a passport or driving license picture. 3D software needs to localise your eyes, mouth and ears precisely to recreate your face.

Steps

1. Take a picture of yourself with these features:

2. Place the camera at least 2 meters away from you

3. Remove your hair, your hands and all objects, including dark glasses and caps, bandannas, etc. from your face.

4. Place your face parallel to the lens of the camera, ie. take a front view picture, not a side or angled one. You must look straight at the lens.

5. Close your mouth (to prevent 3D distortions) and show a natural and relaxed expression.

6. Check that the lighting is uniform, that there are no cast shadows or highly reflecting areas in your skin.

7. Choose a sound track (usually famous quotes of actors, politicians and celebrities), and upload your photo to it. If your photo is correct you will be e-mailed a link to download your animated face in video format.

Tips

  • Photos used for ID cards and passports are plain and boring, but they can be lip synced properly because it displays all the information about your face without distortions of shape (open mouth or camera view) and color (natural lighting).

Warnings

  • Remember to close your mouth so the software models a correct 3D projection of your chin and jaw.
