How to Jailbreak iPhone 4 iOS with RedSn0w Software: 10 Steps

This is a step by step guide on how to jailbreak your iPhone 4 using your Windows computer and RedSn0w software. Keep in mind this is a tethered root, meaning you will have to connect your phone to your PC every time you restart.



Steps

2. If you have not done so already, update your iPhone 4 to iOS by downloading the update via this link: http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/041-1317.20111012.UVTgr/iPhone4,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw

3. Start the redsnow application and click on the Jailbreak option.

4. Connect your iPhone 4 to your PC and make certain it's OFF. Click the Next Button to Continue with the Jailbreak process.

5. Follow the on-screen steps.

6. Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.

7. Let go of the Power button and continue holding the Home button till RedSn0w finds the iPhone 4.

8. Select Cydia from the list of options and click Next.

9. The iPhone will now be rebooted again and RedSn0w will begin uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel.

10. Once this is complete you will be notified that RedSn0w is done. When your iPhone finishes rebooting (5 minutes or so) it will be jailbroken with Cydia on the SpringBoard.
