How to Own at Top Speed 2: 10 Steps
Top Speed 2 is an automobile racing game for the computer, and it uses audio as it's main medium, engaging the player in lifelike race tracks. From Playing In The Dark, it is available for free. To play this game effectively and win races, you need to have (a) quality speakers or headphones and (b) good hand ear coordination in order to fend off your fellow racers. This article will show you how to do just that, or rather how to race and win should you follow these simple guidelines. (This is not documentation on how to play the game, but rather it is some helpful tips on how to play the game well).
Steps
1. Once you have downloaded the setup file and installed the game, you are ready to begin racing.
2. Launch the game. You will hear the introduction which you may skip by pressing the control key.
3. Now you are presented with a menu with several options. For a beginner, simply select quick start. You are automatically assigned a race car and placed at a track. (Whenever you execute quick start, you will always have the same car and will race at the same track).
4. Once you select this option and you come to the track, the announcer says, "Start your engines," at which point you and your opponents cars engines will start up automatically.
5. Now you must wait until the countdown happens. After the announcer says, "Three, two, one," the race begins!
6. Your car will have an automatic transmission at this race so do not worry about shifting. To gas the car, hold down the up arrow. Likewise, to slow down (or squeal your tires in many cases), press the down arrow. (For a cleaner brake just let up on the up arrow and let the car slow on its own).
7. Follow the instructions your co pilot gives you. Ex: If he says, "Easy left," then tap the left arrow to move your car in that direction.
8. To get ahead of some opponents, try and ride on the outside of the track.Alternatively, you can try and hit other cars, but that might not be as effective.
9. There are many other things to do (other races) in the game so consult the game's documentation for further details.
10. Enjoy!
Tips
- Make certain your speakers are positioned properly. For instance, if you must turn to the right, make sure the right speaker is to the right of you.
- Try cutting other cars off. It's fun!
- To honk your horn, press (or hold) the space bar.
- To play your friends, you can play them over a network or the Internet. (See documentation).
- It sometimes helps to try and memorize some tracks so that you can get ready for your co pilot's instructions. You might even get ahead of a car or two if you time it right.
Warnings
- You will get hit by other cars at some point so don't get too angry.
- You may crash, which may cause you to lose your place in a race.
- Don't lay on the horn for too long as this can get very annoying for some people.
- Don't get too pissed if a car cuts you off.
