How to Install Project M Without Hacking Your Wii: 8 Steps

Project M is a fan-made mod of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that makes it play more like Super Smash Bros. Melee, in addition to adding characters that were in Melee but not in Brawl and adding new stages. Unlike other Brawl mods, you don't need to mod your Wii to play it. Just follow these instructions to install Project M and play it without hacking your Wii.

Steps

1. Delete all of your custom stages in your Brawl file and on your SD card.

2. Download either of the "Hackless Wii ZIP" files from the Project M websiteand unzip the folder. Alternatively, you could download the "Hackless Launcher" file from the site and use the launcher to generate the folder.

3. Move the contents of the folder to your SD card.

4. Start your Wii with your Brawl disk and the SD card you have the Project M files on.

5. Start up the game.

6. From the game's menu, go to "Vault", and from there, go to "Stage Builder".

7. Gecko OS will launch. Select "Launch Game" from the menu.

8. Project M will launch after a few seconds of loading.

Tips

• If you have a previous version of Project M on your SD card, you'll have to delete it before installing a new one.
• You'll need either an NTSC (North American) or Japanese copy of Brawl for Project M to work.
